The Ministry of Transport test, known as an MOT, is an annual test required by law to ensure the safety, emission levels and roadworthiness of a vehicle. MOTs are needed for vehicles three years or older, with the exception of some vehicles over forty years old, as of May 2018. Where this is the case, you will be required to declare that your vehicle meets the rules for not needing an MOT every time you tax it.
